Courtney Love
Contrary to the wholly invented assertions on a few websites, I NEVER wrote anything to suggest that Courtney Love has anything to do with the "downfall of Nirvana." I said that when they became successful, sometimes Kurt asked her to articulate some of his professional concerns which changed after the band's explosive success. Thereafter, the band made several more successful albums and continued to tour. Nirvana was together and brilliant until the day Kurt Cobain killed himself. There was no "downfall," except for his death. As I write in the book, Kurt was plagued by demons that I believe were rooted in his childhood. He was prone to depression and was a drug abuser before Nirvana and long before he ever met Courtney. Everyone knows that both Kurt and Courtney had drug problems and like any couple, had their ups and downs. But the main thing I know about their relationship is that they loved each other and that Kurt hated it when people dissed Courtney. Kurt Cobain loved Courtney Love and so do I.

Hi Danny. I'm hoping to interview you for the Huffington Post but my email is bouncing. Could you send me a note? stephen@stephenelliott.com.
Hi Mr. Goldberg,
Hope that you are well. I just finished reading your book ‘Bumping Into Geniuses’. I think it was a very interesting and captivating account of the business side of rock n’ roll. I happened to come upon your book while looking for a bio of Led Zepp in my college library. You have worked with some of my favorite artists; including Nirvana and the mighty Zepp. How cool is that!
I was writing in to get your thoughts on how I can contribute to the music business. My working background in advertising brand management and currently am now halfway through my MBA program at Texas Tech University. I’m originally from Mumbai, India. I used to be in a band myself and music has always been a part of my life. I KNOW I would never be happy selling soap no matter what the payola is. After reading your book, I am convinced that I would be happiest working in the corporate side of the music business. I happen to have read that your wife is a music business lawyer. That’s the kind of job I want. Where I can feed myself and my family, as well as work in the world I know and love and not have to give up music. Specifically rock music.
Some of my favorite artists include- The Doors, Aerosmith, Metallica, Kings Of Leon, Muse, Airborne Toxic Project, Stabbing Westward, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gram Parsons, 60's-70's era Stones, David Bowie, Gary Moore, Neil Diamond, Deerhunter, Taking Back Sunday, Faith No More, Dashboard Confessional, Pink, The Verve, Hinder, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, AIC, Stone Temple Pilots, Phil Collins, Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Pete Yorn, New Radicals, Kid Rock, Johnny Cash, Ryan Adams, Dire Straits, Alabama, My Morning Jacket, Blues Traveler, Oasis, Creed, Wilco, Everclear, Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Arctic Monkeys, The Thrills, Moby, Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, U2, Foo Fighters, The Faces, Sugar Ray , Lil Wayne.
I think I have a very good ear for picking out good acts. Early last year, I heard this little band called MGMT and told my avant-garde friends about it who loved them. And they’re now No. 2 on the top new artists of 2008 on Rolling Stone.
Like you said, “it doesn’t matter how hard you work, how talented you are, how much you love music, but how much money you can make.” I respect that observation. Being a business student, I know how critical that is.
I would love to hear from you and get some suggestions on how I could break in the business. I hope there might be a need for a young, hungry, college educated, loyal, sympathetic and sharp person who really loves rock n’ roll and would love to get a chance to break and promote some exciting new talent. God knows the business needs a few more.
Thank you,
Ari.
Hi there...I was wondering if you would be interested in speaking to a group of music industry students about your experiences in the music industry and the future of the industry? We could do a book signing as well. We would love to have you. Please let me know what you think.
Thank you,
Ava
